Icy Rivers 02:19
Woke up this morning ready to go I had nothin to slow me down (slow me down) I done my time, now I’m crossing that line to where the icy rivers flow So long now I ain’t lookin back I ain’t lookin back no more (no more) I was driftin at sea and I thought I was free, but now I’m headed to shore. Got up early with a song in my head Had a song in my head today today I was tapping my feet with the world still asleep I was already on my way It’s got another verse and it ain’t been rehearsed. Gonna sing it anyway (anyway) Oh What the hell, take it out of its shell It might not get another day Woke up this morning ready to go nothin to slow me down (slow me down) I done my time, now I’m crossing that line to where the icy rivers flow, to where the icy rivers flow.

Can’t believe rumors or that they’re always lies Could be the truth in a clown’s disguise But you’d better watch out They might just be your demise Cause there’s a whole world going on behind your back There’s a world you don’t see In your rearview mirror Turn around to catch it always disappears It ain’t too hard to see that nothin’ is clear and you got Very few friends you can count on You got a whole world goin’ on behind your back gotta trust your own hunches to keep you on track Ain’t got to worry what the rest of ‘em think That extra weight bound to make your ship sink If you find yourself thirsty You must need a drink, but they’ll be someone there saying That you drink too much No need explainin’ the things that you do. Long as those things make good sense to you They won’t understand if they don’t walk in your shoes And there the same fools that gave you the blues in the first place There’s a whole world goin’ on behind your back

C'Mon Mabel 02:31
I’m willin’, if you’re able Come on Mabel and go with me (2X) Gotta get out of this dirty old town. The people here, they’re just bringing you down. You smoked enough cigarettes to turn your dreams brown, now you’re sleeping on the cold, hard ground Tell your old man to fetch his own beer, that you and me are gettin’ outta here. You work the pedals and baby I’ll steer and we’ll never look back in our rearview mirror Because I’m willin’, if you’re able Come on Mabel and go with me (2X) Mabel, you need me to treat you right. This ain’t no time for you to get uptight. Don’t worry ‘bout tomorrow, girl. We’re leavin’ tonight. You can blow out the candles and turn on the lights Because I’m willin’, if you’re able.Come on Mabel and go with me

Door to Door 04:05
I’m no breadwinner See my wallet gettin’ thinner By the hour So I stopped on my walk, thought I’d pick you some flowers. Now I’m calling you from jail, see if you know who can help pay my bail. I never worried about the money before. Never thought that I would sell my soul just like a whore. Now I’m willing to go door to door to keep you happy. Seems to me I’m still a child, yeah, I’m just a babe who’s been called to the wild. Don’t try to save me. Don’t call me, don’t page me. I don’t want to trade the monkey bars for a monkey suit full or Cuban cigars. You call that growin’ up, I could be throwin’ up all of the smoke that gets caught in my throat, I want to build a moat around you and me and pull up the drawbridge and swallow the key I never worried about the money before. Never thought that I would sell my soul just like a whore. Now I’m willing to go door to door to keep you happy. So now my alarm is set, my suit is pressed, and the dreams I once had, I seem to forget, why don’t you tell me Dad, what are you gonna be when you grow up? It’s time for our first cup of coffee, cause we’re all adults, it’s the world’s biggest cult, but no one can stop me. I want to have a house. I want to have some land where I can roam on the weekends. Yesh, I can swim in the deep end. I never worried about the money before. Never thought that I would sell my soul just like a whore. But now I’m willing to go door to door, to keep you happy. I hope you’re happy.

If the devil’s got a contract I’ll sign that dotted line. I’ll be standin’ at them Crossroads lookin’ for a sign I’d do just about anything To get off that assembly line So if the devil’s got a contract, baby, I’ll sign that dotted line Well you heard about ol’ Robert Johnson- he was the King of the Delta Blues. About how he gave he soul away when the devil took his dues. I’m gettin’ older every day. I’m battered and I’m bruised, and on Friday when I get my pay, I know I’m being used. So...Chorus I’d rather work for Beelzebub than some bigshot C.E.O. I’ll bet there’s more vacation time and no chance I’ll be let go. In that world someone gets the axe and he’s the last to know. Ain’t nothin’ but a super jet-set dog and pony show. Chorus I don’t want to be no movie star. I don’t want my name in lights. Just want to play my old guitar and make it sound alright. These walkin’ blues is fine by me, I’m so afraid of heights. But I wanna sleep in every day and rock the house all night. So… Chorus

Jimmy cuts a rug when there’s No one else around He draws them curtains and Winds up gettin’ down. He feels the bass down in those Knees and the drums start cookin’ Somethin’ sweet and nobody cares That Jimmy’s got two left feet. You take him to a party and there He’s Mr. Shy. But all the ladies say, “Jimmy’s such a nice guy.” But now he workin’ behind the scenes to be the man of all their dreams. Jimmy’s gonna be the apple of their eye. Cause don’t them ladies like a man who can dance? It’s like Hollywood, it’s like a sweet romance.Jimmy gonna be the next Fred Estaire. Day by Day he’s getting there. And I’m telling you fellas so you can beware. So pull your lady up here on the floor. And when she wants it, you’d better give her more. Cause she may get that wandrin’ eye lookin’ for some smoother guy. And guess who just walked in from that front door. That’s right. Jimmy. Jimmy cut a rug Jimmy Jimmy Cut a rug when there’s no one else a... Jimmy Cut a rug when there’s no one else a... Jimmy Cut a rug when there’s no one else a... AROUND

I’m just a strong willed child And now you got me all riled How could you do this again? And I don’t know when you dreamed that I could pretend that I could ever ever be denied. And now I feel it just like a volcano about to blow up into flames And it’s you coming through me askin’ what’s it to me now You don’t remember my name You don’t remember my name I’m just that strong willed child I wish that I could be mild But we both know I’m a pain But I can’t defend against what comes round the bend It’s just too much for this brain to take And please don’t tell me I’m someone that you didn’t know; I don’t need that cliche. Please don’t tell me I’m someone that you didn’t love. That won’t be my mistake. That won’t be my mistake. We’re strong willed children Will we ever grow up? I don’t think so I hear the call of the wild It’s ringing over my files It’s got a tooth in my ear So now what can I do but make this call out to you hoping that you will hear me comin’ out over the radio so high defies gravity And you stare into your small world to find your own way forward now, and it’s still so hard to see. It’s just so hard to see. It’s still so hard to see. It’s just so very hard to see.

Yes, Dear 02:24
Granpaw had some words of wisdom On my wedding day. He said if you Want love to last forever, there’s two words you must say And you will say them over and Over until you’re blue in the Face, but if you’re gonna roll this hand, young man, these two words are gonna be your aces You say yes, dear, I’m on it. Yes, dear. Right away. Yes, dear, that sure sounds good to me. Yes, dear, whatever you say. Granpa said make no mistake about who the boss is now. She’s in charge of who and what and where and why and how. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. Every now and then you’ll have to swallow your pride but… Remember… if it weren’t for these two words, you wouldn’t be here. Simple advice is always best And Granpa made it clear That on love’s long and winding road it’s best to let her steer. Now I could keep singin’on and on’, but I promised my baby that I’d mow the lawn when she blew them kisses in my ear.

Mixed Tape 05:25
I found that old mixed tape That you made When I digging up junk in piles I listened to those tunes over and over I drove that reel a million miles I threw it in my old tape deck sat real close, to hear through The fuzz, and it carried me back to All those memories of what once was And all those love songs I wish I’d Written, but someone always got ‘em down first. Blame it all on my shaky hand it’s both a blessing and a curse Still I got this old mixed tape That you made. That I just can’t throw Away. It’s lost some sound and I mixed up all my cases. But it carries me back to those days And it carries me back to those places that I’ve lost in time But I still hear traces. If I was the worst mistake That you made Well you didn’t know it then. But it’s in the lines You wrote inside, the tears that Smeared the ink from your pen I found that old mixed tape That you made When I was digging up junk in piles I listened to those tunes over and Over. I drove that reel a million miles.

Leave your baggage at the station and we can drive straight out tonight. Can’t ride the rails if your heart is frail or you’re feeling too uptight. Got a heavy weight upon your shoulders when you tell yourself, you’re getting older. Leave your baggage at the station, there ain’t nothing that you need. All the billboards were so bold and shiny and draw by the cold hand of need. All you gotta do is get here just before the sun goes down. Quit looking in your rearview mirror, it will only let you down. When you’re looking for your way to the simple life, you find that path is overgrown. You gotta cut it back with your own knife if you want to call it home. Leave your baggage at the station cause we must do some erasin’. Gotta clean up this canvas to make some room for all those little flowers growing brighter by the hour. Takes a whole lotta love to see them bloom. When you’re looking for your way to the simple life, you find that path is overgrown. You gotta cut it back with your own knife if you want to call it home. So much to be thankful for Sometimes it’s easy to forget. That some of the sweetest moments in my life haven’t even happened yet. But I’ve loved our trip thus far. Hung on through some bumps in the road with you. But you lifted my head up to the stars and brought the sunshine into view. Heaven knows that I’m a lucky man. So does little Joey, who grew up on your street. Though he’s not so little anymore, he had such a crush on you, and he once told me what I already knew. When he heard that we were married and the tears welled in his eyes. He said you were the only woman that could ever make him cry. And he bowed his head when he shook my hand and said, “Damn you, you’re a lucky man.” I wake up to your smiling face. I fall asleep with your kiss. I feel my heartbeat in your embrace. It’s like I’ve been granted every wish. And every now and then I smile to myself, though little Joey might say that I gloat, but it’s in your eyes that I see my wealth and from your breath that I draw my hope. And I still remember little Joey on his saddest day. When the sky for him it must have been dark and gray. How he bowed his head when he shook my hand and he said “Damn you, you’re a lucky man”.
